In 2013 it was announced that MTV would be the U.S network for The Shannara Chronicles, an epic fantasy TV series based on the Shannara books. The series is executive produced by Dan Farah, Jon Favreau, Miles Millar, Al Gough, and Jonathan Liebesman. The series premiered on MTV in the US on January 5, 2016.
