After the launch, the United States sent 13-year-old Matthews Canada's $5 million Apollo 17 Goodwill Moon Rock, which he kept under his bed for months. Upon recovering the rock from Matthews, Canada lost track of it for decades, incorrectly believing it to have been stolen.
